Ashen Covenant
Ashen Covenant is the kind of mobile RPG I keep recommending to people who claim phones can't do proper role-playing. It has a real narrative spine, a broken kingdom, a party of misfits, and choices that actually reshape a few later scenes. The writing has some genuinely sharp moments between the fights.
Combat is turn-based with a positioning twist, and the skill trees are wide enough that two players can build the same character completely differently. Progression feels satisfying because power comes from smart gear and ability combos, not just grinding numbers. Autoplay exists for the easy stuff but the boss fights demand your full attention.
My only complaint is the early hours move slowly. Push past the first couple of chapters and it opens up beautifully. Great for long sessions, and the offline story mode means it works fine on a train.
